General Information
Nexus Veteran MD LLC is a veteran-owned medical consulting company. We prepare medical opinions and documentation including nexus letters and Disability Benefits Questionnaires for use in VA disability claims.
This page explains what the information on our website is, what it is not, and what our services can and cannot do. We have tried to write it in plain language, because it matters more that you understand it than that it sounds formal.
We are not the Department of Veterans Affairs. Nexus Veteran MD is a private company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the VA or any other government agency. Nothing on this website originates from the VA.
Medical Information Disclaimer
The articles and condition pages on this website are general educational information about medical conditions and how the VA evaluates them.
Medical conditions differ from person to person. Two veterans with the same diagnosis can have very different symptoms, different causes, and different outcomes. General information written for a wide audience cannot account for your individual history, your records, or your circumstances.
We work to keep this information accurate and current, and we cite VA regulations and medical sources where relevant. Even so, medical understanding evolves and VA rules change.
No Medical Advice
Nothing on this website is medical advice, and reading it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.
The information here is not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for evaluation by a healthcare professional who knows your history and can examine you.
Please talk to your own doctor about your health. Do not delay seeking care, and do not change or stop any medication, based on something you read here.
If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
If you are a veteran in crisis or having thoughts of suicide, the Veterans Crisis Line is available 24 hours a day: dial 988 and press 1, or text 838255. You do not need to be enrolled in VA health care to use it.
Legal Information Disclaimer
Nexus Veteran MD is not a law firm, and nothing on this website is legal advice.
We do not provide legal advice, we do not represent veterans before the VA, and we do not prepare, file, or present claims on anyone’s behalf. Our role is medical: we review records and provide medical opinions.
If you have questions about your claim, your appeal options, deadlines, or your legal rights, consider speaking with a VA-accredited attorney, VA-accredited claims agent, or a Veterans Service Organization. Many VSOs provide assistance at no cost. VA maintains a public directory of accredited representatives.
VA Disability Claim Disclaimer
The VA decides your claim. We do not, and neither does any medical opinion.
The VA reviews everything in your claims file, weighs the evidence, applies its own rules, and reaches its own decision. It may agree with a medical opinion, disagree with it, or assign it little weight.
We cannot predict or control:
- Whether the VA grants service connection
- What disability rating you receive
- How much compensation you receive
- Whether Special Monthly Compensation applies
- How long your claim takes
- The outcome of an appeal
Every claim depends on its own evidence, the veteran’s individual history, and the VA rules that apply at the time.
Nexus Letter Disclaimer
A nexus letter is a written medical opinion addressing whether a diagnosed condition is related to military service, or to another service-connected condition.
A few things worth being clear about:
A nexus opinion must be based on your actual medical evidence. It reflects a clinician’s professional judgment after reviewing your records not a conclusion written to order.
A medical professional decides whether an opinion is supportable. If the evidence doesn’t support a favorable opinion, a responsible clinician will say so. We would rather tell you that than provide a document that won’t hold up.
Not every veteran needs a nexus letter. Where service records already document the condition, or where a presumptive rule applies, VA may establish the connection without one. Our website says so in the places where it’s true.
A nexus letter does not guarantee a favorable decision. It is one piece of evidence among everything else in your file.
DBQ Disclaimer
A Disability Benefits Questionnaire is a standardized VA form used to document the clinical findings for a specific condition symptoms, severity, treatment, and relevant examination results.
A DBQ documents a condition. It does not, by itself:
- Establish service connection
- Determine your disability rating
- Guarantee any particular outcome
DBQs and nexus letters do different jobs. A DBQ describes how severe a condition is. A nexus opinion addresses where it came from. A claim may need one, both, or neither, depending on the circumstances.
The VA makes the final determination in every case.
No Guarantee of Results
We do not guarantee, and no one at Nexus Veteran MD is authorized to guarantee:
- Approval of a VA disability claim
- Any particular disability rating or percentage
- Any amount of compensation
- Eligibility for Special Monthly Compensation
- That the VA will accept or rely on any opinion we provide
- Success on appeal
- Any particular timeline
If you encounter any company in this field promising a specific rating or guaranteed approval, treat that as a reason for caution. No one can make that promise, because no private company decides these claims.
Third-Party Information
This website references and links to outside sources, including VA.gov, federal regulations, government agencies, medical organizations, and published research.
These references are provided for information. We do not control third-party websites or their content, and a link does not mean we endorse or are responsible for what appears there.
Government forms, regulations, and publications remain the property of the agencies that issue them. We cite regulations by section so you can verify them yourself and we encourage you to do that, particularly where a rule may have changed.
Changes to Information
VA regulations change. Rating criteria are revised. Presumptive conditions are added and deadlines shift. Medical understanding advances.
We update our content as we become aware of changes, but we cannot guarantee that every page reflects the most current rules at the moment you read it.
Verify current requirements at VA.gov, or with a qualified professional, before relying on anything here for a decision about your claim.
We may update this disclaimer from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and we will update the “Last Updated” date above.
